GP practices

Posted 25-08-2017.

From 1st October 2017, Spirit Healthcare will be the organisation responsible for providing primary care services to patients registered at the following GP practices:

  • Asquith Surgery (693 Welford Road, Leicester, LE2 6FQ)
  • Beaumont Leys Health Centre (1 Little Wood Close, Leicester, LE4 0UZ)
  • Rushey Mead Health Centre (formerly Dr Fry’s Surgery) and The Practice Rushey Mead (8 Lockerbie Walk, Leicester, LE4 7ZX)

Who is Spirit Healthcare?

Spirit Healthcare is a local healthcare organisation, based in Leicester. Our ongoing mission is to make the world a happier and healthier place! We already provide diabetes education in Leicester and 99% of patients would recommended the service to their friends and family!

In providing primary care services at the three practices, we will be working with our NHS partners, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) and local GP practice Bushloe Surgery.

We are working with LPT to provide more joined up primary care, community nursing and specialist nursing services around the needs of patients, in the practices, in homes and in the wider community.

We are working with Bushloe Surgery, rated ‘good’ by the CQC. Being close to Asquith Surgery, they have lots of experience of some of the challenges faced in and around primary care in Leicester.

What do I need to do?

Put simply – nothing!

Our experienced primary care team is currently working hard behind the scenes with the current providers and all of the existing practice staff to ensure a smooth handover of services for patients.

If you are registered with any of the above practices, you do not need to do anything and we would welcome new patients who wish to register at the practices.

What will change?

We want to reassure all patients that you will continue to be able to access the practices in the way you do now on 1 October and see the same practice team.

Over time, we would like to develop your GP practice with you to make sure you get the very best care. This will, of course, be done in consultation with patient groups and staff. As a start, we will be meeting with Patient Participation Group leads for each practice and work is ongoing to recruit more staff to strengthen the existing practice teams.

We are all excited to be working together, and if you have any questions about the change, please do speak with a member of the practice teams initially.

We can’t wait to meet you!
